Bhutan has announced that it will issue the world's first sovereign-backed gold token TER on Solana.
BlockBeats News, December 11th, Bhutanese government officials announced another milestone partnership with Solana at the Solana Breakpoint 2025 summit, advancing Bhutan's progress towards becoming a "crypto-friendly nation":
On December 17th, 2025—Bhutan's National Day—the world's first sovereign-backed gold token will launch on the Solana blockchain. The token, named "TER," meaning "Treasure" in Dzongkha, Bhutan's official language.
TER is set to be a 1:1 backed representation of Bhutan's national reserve gold in the form of an SPL token, offering real-time auditability and instant settlement, making its debut in the world of blockchain.
