BlockBeats News, December 19th - According to a senior government official, Federal Reserve Governor Waller had a "productive interview" with Trump for the Federal Reserve Chairman position. The two delved into discussions on the labor market and how to stimulate job growth. The interview took place at the White House and concluded shortly before Trump's national address on economic issues on Wednesday evening. Treasury Secretary Benson, White House Chief of Staff Wells, and Deputy Chief of Staff Scavino also attended the interview. Officials indicated that BlackRock executive Rick Rieder will be interviewed at Mar-a-Lago in the final week of the year.

They also noted that Federal Reserve Governor Bowman is no longer a candidate for the position. Officials pointed out that Waller's conversation with Trump about employment demonstrates that concerns and criticism from the outside - namely, the belief that the President is just looking for a candidate who will bend to his will on rate issues - are unfounded. They emphasized that the President addressed a wide range of economic issues in the interviews with the candidates. (CNBC)
